Telling the best stories about a great passion. The story of the German outdoor brand VAUDE is one of them and it begins with Albrecht von Dewitz's inexhaustible enthusiasm for mountain sports. In the 1970s, when the term “Outdoor” did not yet exist, Albrecht saw the great need for quality clothing and reliable equipment, specifically developed for demanding activities in the mountains.
He started the company Vaude in 1974, phonetically referring to the initials of his family name, v.D. (pronounce as [fau´de]). From this one-man business one of the most prominent and progressive mountain sports brands in Europe emerged Since 2009, Vaude has been managed with at least as much passion and vision by Albrecht's daughter, Antje von Dewitz.
